Overview
HireMe is a Chrome extension that helps you generate personalized LinkedIn messages. We collect the minimum data needed and keep it on your device whenever possible.
✅No automatic page reading. You type the job details; we don’t scrape LinkedIn content.
What We Collect
Preferences (on-device)
- Your name (for signature), message style, language (US/IL), and theme.
- Onboarding/tooltip state and other UX preferences.
Optional API Key
- If you enter a Cohere API key, it is stored in
chrome.storage.localand used only to callhttps://api.cohere.aito generate text. - We do not receive, share, or sell your key.
Generated messages are not saved by default.
How We Use Data
- Provide core features (generate and, on request, insert your message).
- Remember preferences for a smoother experience.
- Make API requests to Cohere using the text you type. See Cohere’s privacy policy.
What We Don’t Do
- No collection of browsing history or web activity.
- No background scraping or automatic reading of websites.
- No analytics, advertising trackers, or sale of personal data.
Permissions (Transparency)
- activeTab — runs only after you click the extension.
- scripting — injects a temporary UI into the current LinkedIn tab on your request (no content reading).
- storage — saves preferences and, if provided, your API key locally.

Data Retention & Deletion
- Preferences and API key stay on your device until you remove them.
- You can clear data via the extension’s Reset option or by uninstalling HireMe.
- To request deletion assistance, contact us (see below).
Security
Your API key and preferences are stored using Chrome’s extension storage. Protect your device and don’t share keys. Calls to Cohere use HTTPS.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
